Morphing: To Change from one form to another
A family member was in distress a few weeks ago. We went on vacation. Prior to that, we had a baby. Life is constantly throwing pitches at us, some fast balls, some curve balls. Alike, we hit some of them out of the part, but sometimes we also strike out. Learning that 3 swings and a miss does not always equate to failure, however failing to get on deck and in the batter’s box for the next round does. Get hit, get back up. Strike out, sit the bench while others have a go until your time comes around.
Life is a series of games, some professional some farm team. You never know when your season finally ends and lights to the ballpark are shut off permanently. Faith gets some people through. Others have different beliefs. But we all have to face the fact that no one here on earth has proven what happens after we make the Grand Transit across the sky, riding the White Horse to wherever it those White Horses take us. Keeping this in mind, i have noticed that i have neglected the Pain Cave community for some time, and for that I apologize. But it was also during that time that i began to realize what our true mission is and will be.
Maybe this is the Phoenix finally rising.
While i have always placed fitness first here in Pain Cave Fitness, there are still 2 other words in our name. Pain and Cave. Pain, because life, just like training-hurts. Cave- because nothing is cooler than going into the deep dark recesses of your psyche and flushing out all the bats and demons. I found that physical training did this for me, others noticed and joined along the way. While fitness and mental training will still be at the heart of Pain Cave Fitness (more on that later) I want to be able to use the site as a forum to help others.
Most have noticed that we have been involved in a lot of charity work lately. We linked up Maryke and Brandon Webb at the RED Circle Foundation trying to help promote the cause through merchandise sales (donations) and group workouts. I see this becoming a larger part of Pain Cave Fitness in the future. We started naming workouts probably around the same time Crossfit did, and i have to admit they have a great PR campaign and mission. They have literally accomplished what we had hoped to do by getting more and more people paying attention to the fact that training, an aspect of being in top physical shape, can save your life. Training in small groups based around workouts of the day (WOD) is a great tool to do so while building camaraderie and teamwork. While i commend them on this, i also feel that The Pain Cave swung and missed on our attempts. to do the same on a larger scale. But we keep going to the batting box for more and we will never quit.
Glen Doherty, Benghazi and 9-11
9/11 has become synonymous with tragedy here in the US. First it was 2001 and now it seems that our enemies are constantly using that date to attempt to fear us into submission. Along the way, we lost great men. Men of Honor, Men of Courage and lots of women that don’t seem to get the same recognition but are just as important as any US life lost for sake of Country. We hope to bring more awareness to these great men and women and their sacrifices, and we are going to ask a lot of you in the future for support.
Which brings me to GD9.12. The RED Circle Foundation is honoring the life of Glen Doherty, a good friend/ Teammate of Brandon Webb from RCF. If you don’t know who Glen is, then you might be living under a rock.
Glen Doherty was one of the four Americans killed in a terror attack in Benghazi, Libya on September 12, 2012. The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation is our way to honor Glen’s life and his beliefs.
Glen believed in education, improving oneself and building skills. He believed life should be earned by hard work and hard play. Celebrate this beautiful world that we live in, recreate as much as humanly possible. Help others, and surround yourself with people that you respect who challenge you and make you a better person. Through this Foundation our goal is to pay it forward, to spread Glen’s love and passion for life to as many individuals as possible.
What we are going to do

I know there are a lot of charities out there and we are all giving money, i plead for you to take action and help The RED Circle Foundation, The Glen Doherty Foundation and Pain Cave Fitness raise money for a great cause and to help remember the great Warrior in Glen.
Sign up at PainCave Fitness for the Hero WOD on Saturday September 13th (details and workout are posted here: http://paincavefitness.com/glen-doherty-memorial-foundation-gd-9-12/ ). Most importantly, please make a donation of $35 or more by September 6th and we will send you a GD9.12 shirt.

We can help, but only with you as part of our team. Please take just a minute to drop any amount of donation you can to help us reach goal. So much depends on so little- $5, $10, $35, or more- it all matters in the end.
